Drawing on many years of research, Alicja Rogalska designs collective situations – such as workshops, performances, dinner parties, live action role-playing games (LARP), and board game events – where the process and outcome are shaped through group negotiation.
The artist invites participants from specific communities to engage in dialogue, make their voices heard despite often marginalized social positions, and work together to develop emancipatory approaches for the future. These gatherings are often translated into video works, but can also result in songs, images, or objects that reflect the collective process.
In previous works, Alicja Rogalska collaborated with individuals from precarious economic backgrounds – including migrant farm workers in the UK, street singers in Colombia, and flower farmers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia – to examine social inequalities, with a focus on labor, migration, gender, climate, and rural spaces.
