Kurfürstendamm & Tauentzienstraße
The most important shopping streets.
Please note: Due to the current situation you are currently obliged to wear a mask with mouth and nose cover on these streets.
“Ku'damm” is the most popular shopping promenade in Berlin. And one the key shopping streets in Germany to boot. The 3.5 km (2.2 mile) long boulevard leads from Breitscheidplatz with the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Charlottenburg as far as Rathenauplatz in Grunewald, where the exclusive villa quarter of the West Berlin City begins. Around Breitscheidplatz you will find many boutiques, shops and businesses. The quiet off-Kudamm side streets like Fasanenstraße, the poshest shopping mile in Berlin, you will find full of prestigious boutiques and top-class cafés situated in magnificent turn of the century buildings. Many exclusive fashion labels, in particular, have made their home between Memorial Church and Adenauerplatz – ranging from Lagerfeld via Valentino through to Yves Saint Laurent. But it’s the hidden treasures that dictate the services provided.
In Tauentzienstraße, directly on Wittenbergplatz, is the famous Kaufhaus des Westens, or KaDeWe for short. Here spread over seven floors is a high-end range of products and luxury goods. Particular highlights are the sixth and seventh floor of the acclaimed department store. The sixth floor contains one the largest food departments of any department store in the world – the delicatessen section. And on the seventh floor is the fashionable restaurant with its glass dome allowing a wonderful panoramic view of Berlin. The diverse range of shopping possibilities offered by Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße is rounded off by numerous trend chain shops like H&M, S. Oliver or Zara.
